PSWA Member Penny Tuffin wins the Palliative Care WA “Outstanding Professional Award”

Congratulations to Penny Tuffin on being awarded Palliative Care WA’s Outstanding Palliative Care Professional Award. Penny is a Senior Pharmacist Palliative Care, WA Country Health Service and Fiona Stanley Hospital. Penny has worked in the area of pain and palliative care for many years and was the recipient of PSWA’s Eric Kirk Memorial Award in 2014 for her significant contribution to pharmacy practice in WA.

Penny has been an active member of State planning committees for palliative care across WA, including the End of Life and Palliative Care Advisory Committee since 2012. Penny advocates for the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal communities, and shares her wealth of knowledge in palliative care with her colleagues in the Kimberley and Pilbara.

Nominees for this award are from a range of health professionals so it is particularly exciting for a pharmacist to win this award. Penny hopes her award will inspire other pharmacists to work in the area of palliative care where they can have a significant impact on patient care.

Penny was unable to accept the award in person as she was undertaking volunteer work in India at the time.
